Easy Thanksgiving Crafts Preschoolers Toddlers
Welcome to part 2 of my easy Thanksgiving crafts preschoolers and toddlers enjoy series. Our week went great, though not always the way I planned. Then again, with little ones, that’s pretty much the norm, isn’t it? 🙂 We definitely did enjoy some fun and easy Thanksgiving crafts for preschoolers and toddlers, coupled with a Bible lesson reviewing and learning more about Daniel, and a other fun activity ideas. However, not necessarily in the order and method I planned. Plus we added a LOT of play-doh fun! In other words, it was quite a delightful day!

Bible Verses for Preschoolers AND Toddlers
I decided to once again use the example of Daniel trusting in, praying and thanking God. For that purpose, I used part of the verse in Daniel 6:10 – “Daniel…prayed and gave thanks before his God” and created this Scripture picture along with a matching coloring page (if you’d like a pdf version of them, just click here to sign up for my free email updates and access to my free printables. )
Bible Stories For Toddlers and Preschoolers
We enjoyed learning even more about Daniel than we had a couple weeks ago. This time we focused on his bravery in praying to God no matter what AND thanking God even when he was probably a bit scared. In addition to our regular storybooks like The Rhyme Bible Storybook for Toddlers, The Candle Bible for Toddlers, and The Rhyme Bible Storybook, I found a couple of free printables that Little Bear and I both really enjoyed from DLTK – Daniel and the Lions Den as well as Men of the Bible.
Pilgrim Mini Books To Print
I also found a few cute Pilgrim printable books for preschoolers – most free and some for sale but really inexpensive – plus I made one of my own cute Pilgrim mini printable books for kids. And Little Bear enjoyed them all. Hooray!
Here are links to several:
- A brief history of the Pilgrims from Teaching Tiny Tots.
- A Little Pinch of Perfect offers a cute Pilgrim printable as a gift once you sign up for her free emails.
- A printable book from Meet Penny is a bit different but fun. Each page has one line and lots of room to draw or put stickers on – which we will do on a different day.
- Pilgrim Pilgrim What Do You See was not free but also not expensive.
Christian Songs For Toddlers and Preschoolers
There are more than a few variations online for different songs about thankfulness and saying thank you, set to familiar tunes. Here’s one I made up for my cute grandkids:
Tune is Twinkle Twinkle Little Star
We are thankful for our GOD
For our mom and for our dad
We are thankful for our food
We are thankful for our toys
We are thankful for brothers
Grandmas aunts and uncles too
And here’s my version of a song I found at Children’s Ministry – “Thank You Jesus”
Tune is Jesus Loves Me
Thank you Jesus I will sing, You’re my Savior and my King, Thank you for my family, I’ll praise you on every day. Yes, we thank Jesus, yes, we thank Jesus, Yes, we thank Jesus, because He loves us so.
More Fun Songs for Toddlers and Preschoolers
Children’s Ministry has a cute Pilgrim song sung to the tune of 6 little ducks. Another fun option is to use this as a finger play without the tune.
Here are a couple of fun songs and a rhyme to enjoy together – including one of my favorites, To Grandmother’s House We Go, from Teaching Tiny Tots.
Thanksgiving Activities-Toddlers Preschoolers
Play-dough, Breadmaking, and Cookie Baking
Breadmaking was a craft I used to enjoy often. I had a Bosch bread machine and used to bake all of our own bread for quite a while. I haven’t done much of that in YEARS. However, I was intrigued by the directions for Chocolate play dough I ran across and decided to give it a try. And it turned out very nice. It was so easy! You can even check out my new Pinterest board all about Play-Dough Fun and am looking forward to experimenting with other recipes, which I’ll share as I get to them. They definitely make fun and easy Thanksgiving crafts preschoolers love to make AND eat! 🙂
With our Chocolate Play-dough, Little Bear had fun rolling it, running his cars on it, making snowmen out of it with cheerios eyes, and even turning it into a cute turkey. complete with googly eyes and feathers (and some help from grandma). I was happy to discover it was a wee bit softer and more pliable – making it a bit easier for him to use. He seemed to like it equally as much as regular Play-Doh. TIP: When I made the recipe, it was a bit sticky. But after adding a bit more flour it worked out great!
One project you’ll spot in another of my Pinterest boards, Easy Baking Recipes for Kids, that we didn’t get to yet, are some fun bread recipes. Kneading bread can be just as fun as play-dough and tastes great as well! I hope to try one of these recipes next week, after I get some mini-loaf pans. In the meantime, I found a package of mix and bake gingerbread cookies and we DID have a lovely time making those. He enjoyed helping me stir, knead, AND cut out the gingerbread cookies. And was quite proud to take some home to enjoy with mommy and daddy! 🙂 In the meantime, our next baking projects will include Rainy Day Mum’s Easy Bread Dough for Cooking with Kids.
Pilgrims Five Kernels Corn Printable
Have you noticed the “5 kernels corn Thanksgiving tradition” that has spread across the internet? A dear aunt used to do this when my children were young and we thought it was so nice. I decided to introduce it to Little Bear this year and he can help me teach it to Punkin Doodle next year.
You can use popcorn kernels, candy corn, or – like me – a can of whole kernel corn. I decided to do this at lunch time and give him one of his favorites – hot dogs – along with fruit and corn.
As he was eating, I separated out 5 of the corn kernels and told him the story about how the Pilgrims came to America in the Mayflower, looking for freedom to worship God. They landed in Plymouth and that first year was SOOOOO hard! They had very little food. As the story goes, some days, they each only had 5 kernels of corn on the cob per person. They got to know many Native Americans, including one named Squanto, who helped them learn how to grow food, find fish, fowl, and animals and they survived. The next fall, they had a bountiful harvest, so they celebrated with their Native American friends for the first Thanksgiving. And that year, and ever year thereafter, they put 5 kernels of corn at their plates to remind them of God’s many blessings and good care of them!
As I mentioned, I even turned the lovely story into a little minibook, using the cute clip art from ScrapDoodles at Etsy. If you’d like a copy, just click here to sign up for free email updates and access to my free printables library. 🙂
More Fun Activities for Toddlers Preschoolers
I turned our All Detergent pods container into a turkey with the help of some cute Thanksgiving clip art from Edu-Clips. I pasted google eyes and a beak onto the front. Then taped feathers on the back. Then I gave turkey food (pom poms) to Little Bear and he had so much fun feeding the turkey. He didn’t quite grasp the idea of dropping them one by one from up high but he loved getting a handful and stuffing them into the tub. 😉
Little Bear and I did, indeed have fun with Pilgrim and Thanksgiving activities. But we also had fun with just sitting and playing with blocks (he LOVES Mega Bloks and so do I!);

as well as Hot Wheels and other cars, driving the cute Cozy Coupe, and playing hide n seek with our turkey!
I did a bit of searching and found some really fun looking ideas to do with the Hot Wheels along with some cute coloring pages of the Cozy Coupe. I plan to try them out, bit by bit, over the next few weeks. And I added several to my Pinterest boards (including my Car Toys for Kids board – that also includes other toy cars from miniatures to Cozy Coupes and more) for future reference.
